Emerging Island / Sinking Island és una publicació capicua que investiga la relació entre la lliçó amagada al mite de l’Atlàntida i l’actualitat. Des dels seus orígens els mites han servit per contar històries, explicar-se el perquè del món i donar lliçons a qui les vol escoltar. Tot i la seva antiguitat, seguim sense aprendre del tot d’aquestes lliçons.
Aquest llibre explica dues històries. D’una banda, l’Atlàntida, una illa que rebé un càstig diví per l’arrogància i l’abús dels seus habitants. De l’altra, la creació d’illes de plàstic als mars i oceans causada per la mala gestió dels residus plàstics i per l’abús d’aquest material.
Emerging Island / Sinking Island is a palindromic publication focusing on the relationship between the lesson hidden in the Atlantis myth and the present. From the beginning, myths have been used to tell stories, to explain the world and to teach lessons to those who want to hear them. Despite their age, we resist to fully learn from these lessons.
This book explains two stories. On the one hand, Atlantis, an island that received divine punishment for the arrogance and abuse of its inhabitants. On the other hand, the creation of plastic islands in the seas and oceans caused by the mismanagement of plastic waste and the abuse of this material.
